On February 27, 2024, Ventura County proclaimed February 2024 National Children's Dental Health Month. Dr. Michelle To (Cohort 5, Ventura) presented to the Board of Supervisors on the importance of oral health and children's dental screenings. Dr. To explained the impacts of poor oral health on children, which includes the inability to eat, pain, school absenteeism, and low self-esteem. Additionally, she explained the County's School-Linked Dental Program to increase the number of dental screenings for school-aged children.

Dr. Marie Buell (Cohort 3, Ventura) and Carmen Cuevas (Ventura LHD, Office of Oral Health) attended in support of Dr. To's testimony.
