Research shows that the quality and presence of sidewalks, bike lanes, and crosswalks, and the accessibility and affordability of public transit all affect physical activity levels and safety for residents in nearby areas.In the context of the Champion Provider Fellowship program, safe routes to schoolrefers to any effort making it safer and more convenient, accessible, and affordable for students and their families to walk, bike or take public transit to school.
