We all know that water is a healthier choice than sugary drinks. What does it take to support that choice? This webinar will look at key elements to enable drinking water: its safety, access, education and promotion, and policy. Most of the presentation will focus on tap water safety: concerns and responses; particularly lead in tap water. The webinar will include information on resources and action steps, as well as Q & A time.

Presenter
Christina Hecht is Senior Policy Advisor, University of California Nutrition Policy Institute. Her primary focus is on healthy beverages; she leads NPI’s work in drinking water safety, access, promotion and policy. She is co-investigator in current research on drinking water and active in multiple collaborative projects. She co-ordinates the National Drinking Water Alliance, a network of individuals and organizations across the country working to ensure that all children in the US can drink water in the places where they live, learn and play. She is also a founding member of the UC Research Consortium on Beverages and Health. Christina earned a BA at Stanford University and a PhD at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health.
