2021 Persuasive Narrative Series

The introduction to the Colliding Crises: Using Persuasive Narratives to Tell the Story of Food Insecurity During COVID-19, presented at the Champion Provider Fellowship Mini College, will be followed by three interactive online sessions. Through this series, you will learn how to develop your own Persuasive Narratives and how to effectively use them to sustain your work. The series will be hosted by Brown Miller Communications. Below are the different topics that will be covered:

Session 1 (Tuesday, February 23, 2021 12:15 – 1:15PM):    Audience, Actions and Approach

Once you’ve selected a topic or issue, we’ll focus on helping you identify the audience you need to reach, what action you’ll want them to take and how best to approach this audience with your ask.

Session 2 (Tuesday, March 23, 2021, 12:15 – 1:15PM):       Building Your Persuasive Narrative

Once you understand your audience and know how your ask can support their goals, we’ll work together to develop powerful persuasive stories that will resonate with the audience you want to reach. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to draft your own persuasive narrative. Homework will be assigned at the end of the sesion.

Session 3 (Tuesday, April 27, 2021, 12:15 – 1:15PM):      Taking It to the Street: How to Use Persuasive Narratives

Having a strong persuasive narrative is great, but how do you use it? We will review the best approaches to disseminating this for specific audiences. We’ll cover the various ways to use persuasive narratives, including in-person or virtual one-on-one meetings, formal presentations, phone calls and group meetings. We’ll also discuss the value of having supporting materials, such as slide shows, one-pagers, and/or infographics and data.
